The Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology of the College of Agriculture and
Food Science, University of the Philippines Los Baños (IWEP-CAFS-UPLB) participated in the
Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on 11 November 2021. NSED was scheduled
by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Office of the Civil Defense. It
aimed to strengthen the mechanism for national and regional coordination, intensify local
communities’ earthquake preparedness and increase the commitment of local government units
in building safe communities. Duck, Cover, and Hold protocol was done during the designated
time at 9 am. No evacuation procedures were done to prevent assembly/mass gathering at this
time of COVID-19 pandemic.
IWEP staff performed the “duck, cover and hold” at 9 AM, 11 Nov 2021 for the NSED.
