The Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology (IWEP) organized a Career Orientation in Crop Protection last December 10, 2021.

Attended by 120 students enrolled in agriculture and agriculture-related courses, the activity aimed to introduce the opportunities in the fields of entomology, weed science, and plant pathology, as well as to attract the participants to take up these fields as their majors or specializations.

Serving as resource speakers were Mr. Charle Patrick Garcia (Entomologist from Corvallis Pestcon and Research Services), Mr.Dindo King Donayre (Scientist from Philippine Rice Research Institute), and Dr. Leilani Dacones(Assistant Professor from UP Diliman). They shared their experiences in crop protection, especially as an agripreneur, researcher, and academic personnel, respectively, as they continue their career journeys in the fields of entomology, weed science, and plant pathology.

This career orientation was sponsored by the Philippine Association of Entomologists, Inc., Weed Science Society of the Philippines, Inc., Sterix Incorporated, and Rentokil Initials.
