IWEP Participates in National Eathquake drill

1^st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2021

The Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology of the College of Agriculture and Food Science, University of the Philippines Los Baños (IWEP-CAFS-UPLB) participated in the 1^st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) conducted on 11 March 2021.   NSED is organized by the Office of Civil Defense, which aims to strengthen the mechanism for national and regional coordination, intensify local communities’ earthquake preparedness and increase the commitment of local government units in building safe communities.

Led by the IWEP Director, Dr. Sheryl Yap, the members of the faculty and staff in the offices, laboratories, hallway, and lobby participated and observed the “duck, cover and hold” protocol upon hearing the siren at around 2 pm. As recommended by OVCCA, no evacuation procedures and assembly in the designated areas were done to minimize the contact of people at this time of COVID-19 pandemic.
