The Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology (IWEP) intends to develop competent crop protection scientists and leaders with passion for excellence in pest management. This is also in line with our vision to be a globally recognized institution of higher learning in Entomology, Plant Pathology and Weed Science, responsive to the needs of agricultural and industrial sectors in terms of crop protection and pest management.

IWEP handles undergraduate and graduate courses on 3 degree programs—Weed Science, Entomology, and Plant Pathology. Weed Science deals with problems related to the effects of weeds on crops, their biology, physiology and control. Entomology studies the importance of insects, mites, and other arthropods to the environment. Plant Pathology deals with pathogens and environmental conditions that causes diseases in plants.

With roots as old as the University itself, IWEP takes pride on being the home of students and scientists who have pushed the boundaries of our understanding on insects, weeds and plant diseases.

IWEP’s high caliber students, graduates, faculty, research, and extension personnel have pushed the boundaries of our understanding on weeds, insects, and plant diseases.  Over the years, the institute has cemented its place as a bastion of knowledge that continuously guides the Filipino people to a better and brighter future.

Secure the future, protect agriculture.
